Hilton Cairns is in a handy location in the centre of Cairns, just a few hundred meters from the main marina from which most Great Barrier Reef tours leave from.
The hotel is right next door to The Reef Hotel Casino and easy walking distance to Cairn's famous night markets as well as the many bar and restaurants in town.
From Cairns Airport, it's around a 15/20 minute drive at $20 in an Uber. Shuttles are available, but from what I could see they're all around $10 per person each way, so I stuck with the Uber! I hope this Hilton Cairns review is helpful in planning your upcoming trip!
Hilton Cairns King Hilton Spa Room
I initially booked a base King Guest Room which had been upgraded to a King Hilton Spa Room. A welcome note, wine and local Cairn's chocolate were waiting for us in the room on our arrival.
The room on the 8th floor had views over to Carins Wharf and the creek. The room’s shower and spa bath looked out to the view thanks to a window on the spa side of the bathroom. The spa was a standard size bath with spa jets.
The room had a desk, comfy king bed with some amazing sheets, amble sockets throughout (though no USB charging ports..). There was a balcony with seating to enjoy the views, a great spot to watch the boats and cruises ships come and go.
The tea and coffee making facilities including an espresso machine, a good size mini fridge and 2 x complimentary bottles of water were in the room too. The hotel don't run a mini bar, but instead have a shop style Grab & Go area in reception you can pick up snacks, soft drinks and beer/wine which can be charged to your room by reception.
Breakfast was served both in in Cafe Sunrise, just off the main lobby with views over to the water.
Diamond members can have breakfast in the restaurant or in the lounge free of charge. We opted for the restaurant which had a wide selection of food, all of which was tasty and fairly fresh. Again, staff very welcoming. Barista coffee free of charge for Diamonds.
Executive lounge on the 9th floor evening service was excellent with a good selection of drinks and nibbles. The lounge itself had views over Cairns towards the airport with outdoor seating available - a great spot to watch bird flocks and fruit bats as the sun starts to set.
The staff in the lounge were particularly attentive and welcoming. A nice touch on Saturday night being a live harpist playing during the evening service, which is a first for me!
