A quick photo review of Hilton Glasgow who have just about completed a circa 2 year refurbishment of the entire hotel. The refurbishment was long overdue, with the bedrooms in particular looking pretty dated as they were prior to the work.
From their press release “This will be the largest renovation the hotel has undergone since its opening in 1992. Our vision for the project is to enhance our offering with a modern take on elegance and luxury, restoring the hotel to its position as market lead and premier function destination in Glasgow.”

Overall they’ve done a great job with the refurbishment, there aren’t many areas of the hotel that haven’t been improved from the brand new rooms to the car park which has had a much needed resurfacing.

The Executive Lounge has moved from its old windowless location to the left of reception to the right side of the formed tart & lobster restaurant which is no more.
The new lounge is a big improvement with windows (although looking out to the M8 motorway..), more comfortable seating and what feels like a larger space. Admittedly they haven’t done all that much to the space since it was tart & lobster outside of adding the coffee bar area and a TV, though the space does work well.
Over the last year the hotel has repeatedly changed the food and beverage offering in the lounge to the point it’s hard to keep track of. As of time of writing (January 2022) the lounge is now open for most of day until 8.30pm, with soft/alcoholic drinks and food platters served 5pm – 7pm. Beer, red/white/rose wine and fizz are available self serve. Spirits are also available on order. Breakfast is also available in the lounge until 10am, with some items like Eggs Benedict having a £5 up-charge.
I’m not convinced the food offering in the new lounge is for the better. The “Platters” are small and generally of poor quality with limited options available. The service can also be slow as staff are serving the platters, spirits and other requests during the 2 hour Aperitifs. The old buffet approach seems far more efficient and offered a better selection of food.

Monday – Friday: 6.30am – 8.30pm
Saturday & Sunday: 7.00am – 8.30pm
Breakfast: until 10am
All Day Grazing (this was very light biscuits, tea/coffee/soft drinks): 11am – 5pm

Oddly, the old lounge is still there and has had “Old” added to the sign outside. I’m not sure what’s going on there 😀
